Cao Fei is a Chinese artist born in 1978. Her work consists mostly of video installations, costume and depicts the fluidity of a world where cultures have mixed. She explores perception and reality in her work. Using strategies like role play, film making she captures the individuals longings and how they imagine themselves to be. She uses a lot of Chinese elements in her work, she both observes or participates when creating a piece. Fei is greatly fascinated with the second life world. She discerns between reality and dream, and her films create this other world or a utopia.
